A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have been praising Scott Wright after the 23-year-old opened his account for the Ibrox club on Wednesday evening.

The Gers newcomer, who joined the Ibrox outfit in January, made his first Scottish Premiership start as he was named in Steven Gerrard’s starting XI for the trip to St Johnstone.

And Wright opened the scoring for the 55-time Scottish champions in the 55th minute, cutting inside and sweeping a fine right-foot finish past Zander Clark.

The winger’s evening lasted until the 69th minute as he made way for Scott Arfield in a double substitution that also saw Joe Aribo replace Steven Davis.

Sadly, Rangers couldn’t hang on to all three points, conceding an injury-time penalty when Jack Simpson brought down Christopher Kane.

Liam Craig made no mistake from 12 yards to ensure a share of the spoils between the Premiership champions and the League Cup victors.

Despite the disappointing result, there was a lot of praise for Wright, with some Bears tipping him for a bright future at Ibrox.
