Former Arsenal defender, Martin Keown, has said Liverpool should consider looking at Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard to solve their defensive worries.
Vestergaard, 28, has been in fine form for the Saints this season although he di”d miss out on helping his club in the 1-0 win over the Reds last weekend.

However, when fit, Vestergaard will come back into the picture and Keown, speaking to Talksport today, admits he has been seriously impressed by the Southampton man.
“I’ve not seen a better central defender this season and I thought maybe that might be a player Jurgen Klopp might go after,” Keown said.
“He reminds me of Van Dijk. If you look at the way they ping balls, the way he threads balls into midfield, he’s a big man. Of course, Southampton won’t want to let him go.”
The Danish defender, who has 20 caps for his country, also has a handy knack of scoring goals having notched three times this season from his central defensive role.

Reds boss Klopp has, however, hinted there may not be much movement in the January window, which means he may well continue with the likes of Fabinho and Rhys Williams for now.
Vestergaard is quality and links make sense given the past – TBR View
Liverpool have a strong past of being able to tempt people from Southampton. You only have to look at Van Dijk, then further back the likes of Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana.
Vestergaard could easily play for most Premier League clubs and it’s a good shout from Keown, this.
However, there’s no way Southampton are selling as things stand, and if they were going to do so, then you’d imagine they’d be demanding a mammoth fee for their man.
