‘Reminds me of Grealish’, ‘almost like Coutinho’: Some Liverpool fans hail 19-year-old’s display today

A number of Liverpool fans have waxed lyrical about Curtis Jones after his impressive display for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in Saturday’s pre-season friendly.

Back in early 2018, Jones signed his first professional contract at Liverpool and made his under-23s debut.

This year, the young maestro scored Liverpool’s winning goal against Merseyside rivals Everton in the FA Cup third round.

Jones also became the Reds’ youngest ever captain in the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury.

On Saturday, Liverpool faced Stuttgart in their first friendly match of pre-season in Austria and ran out 3-0 winners in rainy conditions.

Jones, looking a lot more muscular, took part in the first 45 minutes and stood out during as part of a fairly senior side, setting up Roberto Firmino for the opener after some great footwork.

There are high hopes for Jones – contracted to Liverpool until the summer of 2024 – at Anfield.

Indeed, Goal.com recognised his talent and potential earlier this year by naming him at number 27 in their NxGn 2020 list of the world’s top 50 youngsters.

Plenty of Anfield faithful were delighted with the boyhood Red’s display and took to social media to give their thoughts:
