'Reminds me of Berardi': Leeds fans rave about U23 ace, despite PL Cup defeat
Leeds United’s Under-23 side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the Premier League Cup on Sunday – but fans raved about Kris Moore.
The 23’s went into Sunday’s match needing a win having suffered a 2-1 defeat to Wigan in their opening Premier League Cup group game.
However, the result was the same as their first outing – a 2-1 defeat at the Stadium of Light. Mark Jackson named a youthful Under-23 side.
Pascal Struijk started the match, having been suspended for the last three senior games. Numerous Under-18 players were given a chance.
Cody Drameh, Charlie Cresswell, Lew Bate, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt are all currently representing England at U21, and U20 level.
So, Harry Christy, Harvey Sutcliffe, Connor Ferguson, James Debayo and Joe Snowdon were names not usually associated with the Under-23 side.
Cameron Jessup gave Sunderland the lead on 23 minutes. Only for a brilliant solo effort from Crysencio Summerville just before half-time.
However, the winner came from an ex-Leeds academy star in Ethan Kachosa on 55 minutes. A well-fought display from Mark Jackson’s men.
What are Leeds fans saying about Moore – after Sunderland loss?
Despite Summerville’s goal, Struijk starting and new signings Amari Miller and Sean McGurk playing – it was defender Moore than earned plaudits.
Moore, 17, has become a regular in the 23’s side this season – following the exit of Olly Casey and the promotion of Charlie Cresswell to first team.
Leeds fans discussed the display of Moore and many were delighted with his efforts on Wearside. One fan likened him to Gaetano Berardi.
