Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been described by Premier League icon Jermain Defoe as “relentless”.

Defoe was speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, saying the Reds ace is similar to Leicester’s Jamie Vardy.

Salah has been sensational for most of his time at Liverpool since joining for £34million in 2017.

The Egypt international has helped bring a multitude of silverware to Anfield, including the Premier League and Champions League.

Salah has registered a staggering 153 goals and 57 assists from 241 competitive Liverpool appearances.

He has also claimed 45 goals from 82 Egypt caps.

On FIVE, Defoe was asked about which attackers in the modern game have impressed him the most.

The former Spurs and West Ham ace mentioned Vardy before moving on to Salah.

“Jamie Vardy, he’s just relentless,” said Defoe.

“He keeps running in behind and running in behind.

“A lot of players now, they want to come short and to the ball.

“But for me, Vardy is one who I thought must be horrible to play against.

“We talk about Mo Salah as well, he’s relentless again with his running in behind.”

Salah will get back to his best – TBR View

Salah has been sensational for most of this season, but he has also played a really high amount of games for club and country.

He has clocked up 38 appearances for Liverpool and 14 for Egypt in 2021-22.

In addition, Salah has experienced major heartbreak at international level twice in a short space of time.

Senegal beat Egypt on penalties in the Africa Cup of Nations final, then again for World Cup qualification.

As a result, it’s not surprising that he’s now struggling.

But with a bit of rest – physical and mental – he’ll soon be back to his best.
