This summer saw plenty more young English talent decide their futures would be best served by moving abroad. One such player was Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson. The young wide-man had a breakthrough season with the Gunners last term, but first-team football was always going to be hard to come by under new manager Unai Emery.

With that in mind, the 18-year-old headed to Hoffenheim of the Bundesliga on a season-long loan.

It has certainly proved to be a good move.

Nelson has surpassed expectations. In four Bundesliga appearances for the club, he has scored four goals, including a double in a 3-1 win against Nuremberg at the weekend.

It is quite the impact for a player so young in such a difficult league. Following in the footsteps of Ademola Lookman and Jadon Sancho, he has hit the ground running in Germany.

Arsenal boss Emery will no doubt be over the moon with his displays. The new manager has worked wonders at the club so far this season but the future is never far from the Spaniard’s mine. It is what brought him such success with Sevilla and he is always looking for players who can help him save money, whether bringing them in or promoting them through.

Nelson is showing that he has what it takes to one day be a regular for Arsenal and Emery will be over the moon. It will be no surprise to see Nelson in the Arsenal first-team next season.
