‘Exciting times’: Arsenal fans react as Reiss Nelson scores against Angers in pre-season friendly

Arsenal defeated Angers on penalties in their penultimate pre-season contest. Farid El Melali opened the scoring, but Reiss Nelson’s equaliser ensured a shootout.

It was a decent work out for Unai Emery’s team. The Spanish boss gave several of the club’s youngsters a chance to shine in France.

Arsenal are set to add Nicolas Pepe to their ranks in the coming days so this was a good chance for people to remind Emery of their quality.

The Gunners face Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Sunday in their final pre-season run-out before their trip to Newcastle in their first Premier League game.

Nelson was one of Emery’s current crop that stood out. He is hoping to force his way into the team this season following his loan spell at Hoffenheim last term.

The 19-year-old played 31 games for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring seven goals.

Arsenal supporters rate Nelson highly and they will hope that any new recruit doesn’t block his path to the first-team.
