Cristian Romero was impeccable as Tottenham edged past Burnley – earning praise from Davinson Sanchez and Sergio Reguilon on Instagram.

Romero, 23, looked right at home in the middle of Tottenham’s defence in what was only his tenth Spurs outing since joining the club from Atalanta.

Partnering fellow South Americans Sanchez and Emerson Royal in defence – as well as Wales defender Ben Davies – Romero was exceptional at the back.

It was another South American that got the only goal of the game, Emerson crossing for Lucas Moura who headed past Nick Pope into the net.

Spurs looked comfortable throughout and that was largely down to the rock-solid efforts of Romero. He posted on Instagram after the away win.

His post is translated as: “Good game from all of us. We continue, now.”

What have Sanchez and Reguilon said about Tottenham star Romero?

There was plenty of praise for Romero on social media after the game. Spurs legend Graham Roberts taking to Twitter to applaud the Argentine.

He dealt with four different Burnley strikers throughout. Matej Vydra and Jay Rodriguez started, before Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes came on.

Keeping the initial two quiet, Romero then came up against the physicality of Wood but he bullied the New Zealand striker – winning time after time.

Reguilon simply commented “MVP” after his display in Lancashire, while Sanchez labelled him an “animal”. Emerson Royal also commented.
