Redknapp lauded John McGinn in 2019 amid reports Tottenham want him
Reports on Wednesday claimed that Tottenham want John McGinn this summer, with Antonio Conte keen to bring the Aston Villa midfielder to North London at the end of the season.
Conte looks set to cap off a remarkable start to his tenure by leading Spurs to the Champions League. Tottenham need a point on the final day of the season to guarantee fourth spot in the Premier League.
There will be huge excitement about what they will do this summer. They will certainly fancy their chances of attracting some fantastic players to the club.

And one of the latest names on their radar is McGinn, with The Telegraph reporting that Conte has asked for the Villa star.
McGinn has been a revelation since joining the Villans. He helped them get themselves out of the Championship. And he has remained a key figure as Villa establish themselves as Premier League stalwarts once again.
It is remarkable to think that he only cost £2.75 million. But it was apparent from the off that he would have no problem impressing at the highest level.
McGinn faced Tottenham in Villa’s first game following promotion. And he actually scored, as Spurs required a comeback to go on and win 3-1.
Certainly, Jamie Redknapp’s view of his performance that day seems particularly poignant now given the player the pundit compared him with.
“A special mention has to go to Aston Villa’s John McGinn, or ‘McGinniesta’ as some call him,” he told the Daily Mail.
“No disrespect to Tottenham’s record signing Tanguy Ndombele, who scored a wonderful goal, but McGinn looked like the £55million midfielder on the pitch at times.
“The guy cost £2.75m when he joined from Hibernian in 2018 but he ran the midfield and opened the scoring. It was outstanding.”
Tottenham want John McGinn
McGinn has been a consistent performer throughout his time in the Premier League. There have been plenty of occasions when he has looked a class apart.
At 27, the Scotland international should be at the peak of his powers. And if Tottenham bring him in this summer, there looks to be a very good chance that he could be yet another outstanding addition from Spurs.
