Manchester United face a battle with neighbours Manchester City if they want to sign 20-year-old Leroy Sane during the summer window, according to the Daily Star. The Citizens are hoping to persuade the Schalke attacker to snub the Red Devils and join them instead, according to reports, with Pep Guardiola desperate to land the £35million-rated youngster.

Sane, who scored eight Bundesliga goals and once in seven Europa League appearances this season, was earlier this month included in the Germany squad for Euro 2016. He is a talented attacker, who can play anywhere across the midfield. However, he most commonly operates on the right flank – a position currently occupied by Jesse Lingard, who has excelled under Louis van Gaal this term.

With a significant price-tag attached, and a bidding war with City likely to ensue, United may be better off spending their cash elsewhere during the upcoming summer window.
