'Recently': Son says he's heard the Brazil national team are now always talking about two Tottenham players
And it would seem the pair are getting more recognition than the South Korean realises, as Son told GQ Korea that someone informed him that Neymar and the Brazil team often talk about them.
Son and Kane broke the Premier League record for most goal combinations from a duo last season. The pair have now combined for 37 goals since Son made the switch from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015.
The partnership has become particularly lethal in the last couple of seasons and they have recently spearheaded Spurs back into the Champions League. And Neymar, as well as his Brazil teammates, have all taken notice.
Brazil national team speak about Son and Kane
When asked if he had grown close to any players that weren’t his teammates, Son answered with Neymar and revealed a conversation between him and a Brazilian player.
He said: “Ah! Neymar is a player that I really like, and I received a lot of inspiration from him when it comes to soccer. I recently talked to a Brazilian player on my team and joked, ‘Does Neymar know me?’ and he responded, ‘Sonny, like we talk about Neymar, they also talk about you and Kane.’
“Then with Neymar visiting Korea, we contacted each other a bit as I tried to see if there was anything I could help him with, and we became a bit closer. We are also the same age.”
Son enjoyed a stellar season last campaign as he finished with 23 Premier League goals and the Golden Boot award, which the 30-year-old shared with Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.
Kane also hit brilliant form after a slow start to the season and ended up with 17 goals in the league. But the 28-year-old won the Golden Boot and Playmaker Award just the season before.
As humble as Son is, it’s quite obvious that Neymar would know who he is and it’s no surprise the Brazil team speak about him and Kane.
The pair have become one of the most lethal partnerships in world football and will be key to the club’s success moving forward. With both Son and Kane in their prime years, they’re now under the perfect manager in Antonio Conte to try to end the club’s trophy drought.
