Recent display hits Leicester with warning ahead of tough FA Cup final against Chelsea - TBR View

With the Premier League season drawing to a close and Leicester City closing in on Champions League football for next season, a few supporters may act like this campaign holds no relevance for the Foxes.

However, with an FA Cup final coming up in less than 10 days against a well-drilled Chelsea side, who have moved mountains under the stewardship of Thomas Tuchel, the next two encounters are of the utmost importance for Brendan Rodgers and his men.

Last week’s draw away to ten-men Southampton was one of the more sloppy displays in what has been a relatively consistent season from the Midlands outfit, and one the Foxes cannot replicate against the Blues.

The Saints played for around 80 minutes with a man less, however, managed to take the lead and hold on to draw against a lacklustre Leicester side.

Newcastle United and Manchester United will act as tests for the King Power Stadium team as they look to lift their first piece of silverware since the 2015 league title.

Both sides are at opposite ends of the table, so, will therefore provide differing tests. Newcastle will bring their defensive nous, whilst the Red Devils will prove a stiffer test with their attacking brilliance.

And whilst Leicester struggled against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s club, Chelsea sent out a stark warning to Jamie Vardy and co during Wednesday night’s semi-final second-leg against Real Madrid as they swatted aside the European giants with tactical precision.

It was a performance to behold from Tuchel’s side as they held on to their nerve to ease past Zinedine Zidane’s team 2-0 with an astute display at both ends of the pitch.

Leicester will have their hands full in next weekend’s final as they look to go toe to toe with a team that have reached two cup finals and seemingly secured top four. The next two outings will prove stiff tests for Leicester as they look to overcome the odds and beat Chelsea.
