In one of the more confusing transfer stories of the year so far, Premier League side Everton are being linked with the Gremio and Brazil forward Everton Soares, who will be hitherto known as his nickname ‘Cebolinha’.
It was Brazil’s arm of Goal that first reported the interest in Cebolinha. They suggested Everton were preparing a €35 million (£29.9m) approach for the player
It was suggested that Cebolinha’s potential move could be brokered by Kia Joorabchian, the agent for Richarlison and known associate of Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

Now, the player himself has been asked about the rumours. Speaking after Gremio’s 3-0 win over Sao Paulo, the 14-cap international was quoted by Istoe as announcing himself happy with the links.
“Nothing has arrived yet, but for me it is a reason for happiness.
“We know that, if we keep the regularity and the working well, there will be speculation, and I’m happy. (But) I don’t know if a proposal will arrive.”
TBR’s View
Cebolinha has been linked with a number of European clubs over the past 18 months or so including some of the biggest on the continent. Indeed, a move to AC Milan seemed to be on the cards over the summer.
Now it seems it is the right time for him to make the move over and the interest of Everton has clearly got him interested.
Given all that is currently going wrong at Goodison Park, securing the signature of this Brazilian international would certainly be a good way to start the new year.
