Noel Whelan singled out Leeds United’s Ezgjan Alioski for his individual performance at the weekend against Tottenham.

Leeds recorded yet another superb display against one of the Premier League’s ‘big’ clubs to earn three points at Elland Road.

The Whites beat Spurs 3-1 thanks to goals from Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo Moreno.

If you consider the Yorkshire club are enjoying their first season since promotion, it’s remarkable to see they are ninth in the league table on 50 points with three games still remaining.

Alioski, who endured a horrid performance in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Brighton, looked at his very best against Spurs.

The 29-year-old assisted Bamford’s goal, as well as being a real threat whenever he pushed on from left-back.

BBC pundit Whelan gave a special mention to the Macedonia internatonal in his post-match analysis.

“He really turned up today after a very poor performance last week against Brighton,” Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds.

“A lovely run and a great pick out, very intelligent pick out. He easily could have had a shot himself or thrashed across goal, he waited, he timed his pass and he picked out [Bamford] perfectly.”

TBR’s View:

Alioski is a figure that divides opinion due to the fact he can be a little inconsistent, but there can be no doubting he plays with real enthusiasm and energy when he steps onto the pitch.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with his future.

Leeds could do with a new left-sided full-back going into next season, and whoever it is may need some time settling into what is a fairly unique physical demand under manager Marcelo Bielsa.
