Spurs fans have been offering up their thoughts on Twitter this evening after reports emerged that they missed out on Antioine Griezmann back in 2014.
Per Mundo Deportivo, Griezmann’s agent Eric Olhats has claimed that Spurs could have signed Griezmann, but wouldn’t stump up the £30m needed at the time. Instead, Spurs offered around £23m and missed out on the Frenchman.
“Tottenham came for Griezmann and offered 23 million, but Real [Sociedad] demanded the 30 of his release clause, period. And he did not go away,” Olhats is quoted as saying.

Griezmann went on to become a star for Atletico Madrid following Spurs missing out, while he also played a key role in France winning the World Cup in 2018. Spurs, typically, haven’t won a trophy in that period despite having Harry Kane as a dominant force.
And as usual, Spurs fans were quick to discuss the news on social media, with Twitter full of comments from fans who can’t quite believe they missed out on Griezmann because of just £7m.
Here, then, is what some Tottenham supporters had to say on the matter.
