Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta heaped praise on Kai Havertz for his performance against Sevilla in the Champions League last night.

The German has constantly been criticised by pundits this season. Many feel he is not good enough, but Arteta’s comments suggest he has been really impressed with Havertz in Arsenal‘s last three games.

Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal star Kai Havertz

Even though almost everybody on the outside warned Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal boss stood firm on his decision to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea before the start of this season.

The German had a really difficult spell at Stamford Bridge, where, despite scoring the winner in the Champions League final, he just did not fulfil his potential.

Arsenal signing Havertz was a big surprise to everyone, and the 24-year-old’s performances since the start of this campaign have been poor, proving many of his critics right.

Arteta, however, has had his back from day one, and the Arsenal boss has now claimed that Havertz has been one of his best players in his side’s last three games.

He said, as per Arsenal.com: “For me, against West Ham in the first half he was the best player, Newcastle one of the best, and today, again, he was really strong.

“I’m really happy with him.”

Havertz is getting better

This is a controversial opinion, but we really think Havertz has looked better in Arsenal’s last two games.

The German’s performance against Newcastle United was by far his best in the famous red and white. He was strong in duels, better than before on the ball and showed some aggressiveness.

Yes, he could’ve been sent off for his much-talked-about challenge, but Arsenal fans got to see a side of Havertz that they can get on board with.

Arteta is right to be impressed with Havertz, but the German still has a long way to go before he can justify his price tag.
