‘Really love it’: Amadou Onana blown away by what Everton fans did in the Merseyside derby

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has been speaking to the club’s official website and admitted he was blown away by what fans did in the Merseyside derby.

Onana completed a summer switch from French outfit Lille and has already made five appearances for the Toffees.

The Belgian midfielder has got off to a decent start in the Premier League and has already won over Everton fans.

During the Merseyside derby, Onana’s name was ringing from the Goodison Park terraces.

And the 21-year-old has admitted that he has been blown away by the support he has received since moving to the club.

Speaking to Everton’s official website, Onana said that he loves the chant that Everton fans belted out against Liverpool

“I love it! I really love it. I’ve said this before and it’s still difficult to describe but this just feels like home,” he said.

“The welcome I’ve had, the love we have from the supporters – never letting us down… A big thanks to them.

“I think everyone here knows what it means to wear this shirt, this badge, playing for this Club. It’s a big, big club, with a big history.

“I respect this badge so much that when I go out there I can’t do anything but give everything I have.”

It was a positive result for Frank Lampard’s men too as they held Jurgen Klopp’s men to a 0-0 draw at Goodison 12 days ago.

Onana put in a solid performance and is becoming a fan favourite on Merseyside already.

He added: “It was amazing. I feel lucky that I had the chance to play in it.

“The atmosphere was just incredible, our support is amazing. If you have such an atmosphere, you simply have to perform.

“It was nice to be out there giving my everything for the club. That’s what they want from us – and that’s what I want to give them.”

Lampard’s side were unlucky to not come away with a win in the end after Conor Coady’s effort was ruled out by VAR.

The Toffees are still searching for their first win of the new campaign but have put in encouraging displays in their last three games.
