BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas was left concerned after hearing Tottenham Hotspur defender Clement Lenglet’s comments after last night’s win over Marseille.
Spurs advanced to the knockout stages of the Champions League last night after a dramatic victory in France. Antonio Conte’s men were under huge amounts of pressure in the first-half and conceded right before half-time.
Chancel Mbemba capitalised on Spurs switching off from a corner to head past Hugo Lloris. The Spurs goalkeeper made a series of impressive saves during the opening period to keep his side in the game.
But Tottenham came out with intent in the second-half and looked far more threatening, as has been the case in many of their recent games.
Lenglet got his side back on level terms with an impressive header from Ivan Perisic’s free-kick. And with the last kick of the game, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg went through on goal and rifled his shot into the top corner off the inside of the post.
Despite a massive win for Conte’s men, Jenas was left concerned about Lenglet’s comments on Spurs’ first-half display on BT Sport.

Jenas left concerned after hearing Lenglet comments
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Lenglet said the Spurs side were unsure whether to adopt a defensive or attacking approach last night.
“Yeah, we didn’t play well during the first-half,” he said.
“Maybe because we didn’t know what happened if we have to attack or to defend. Maybe it wasn’t good for us to play this type of first-half.”
And Jenas was left slightly concerned by his comments about Tottenham’s display in the first 45 minutes.
He said: “That’s why I thought the interview was really interesting. I don’t think they had the clarity to go and play on the front foot.
“It felt like what Lenglet was saying was that as a team they were a bit more protective of what they got.
“We can see that they are better like that, why are they not just going and doing it?”

Lenglet completed a £31.7 million switch to Barcelona from Sevilla back in 2017 (Sky Sports). His time at Barca didn’t quite work out but he is beginning to recapture the form that earned him that move in north London.
The 27-year-old has brought excellent ball-playing qualities to Spurs’ backline and will be delighted to get off the mark for his new side last night.
Spurs’ first-half displays are certainly a cause for concern and they will need to focus on trying to start games with more attacking intent.
But Conte will be delighted that his side managed to turn the game around once again last night and finish top of their Champions League group.
