Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has praised Whites goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson following their pre-season friendly win over Brisbane Roar.

The Leeds boss said the 21-year-old has done a “really good job” for the club.

And, since taking the Elland Road reins, Marsch has been impressed with the keeper’s efforts.

Klaesson has been Illan Meslier’s deputy since his move to Elland Road from Valerenga last summer.

The Norwegian only managed one senior appearance for Leeds last season, but it proved crucial.

He helped the Whites come from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Wolves at Molineux in March.

On Thursday, Klaesson was one of just two players who played the full 90 minutes against Roar.

He delivered another good performance as Leeds beat their opponents 2-1 in Queensland.

Speaking after the game, Marsch lauded Klaesson’s efforts.

However, he also stressed that Meslier remains his number one.

Marsch also confirmed the Frenchman will start in Leeds’ next friendly, against Aston Villa at the Suncorp Stadium.

“Kris has done a good job for us,” Leeds Live quoted Marsch as saying. “Really good job since I’ve been here.

“We needed him against Wolves. He’s done well in the U23s matches since I’ve been here.

“But Illan is our number one keeper and he’s a big player for us and he’ll be ready for the match against Villa.”

Leeds face Villa on Sunday before taking on Crystal Palace in Perth next Thursday.

The Whites then fly home and play Cagliari at Elland Road on Sunday 31 July.

Leeds get their Premier League campaign under way at home to Wolves on Saturday 6 August.
