‘Really appreciated’…£88m Liverpool target admired by Manchester United and PSG

Liverpool’s search for a new defender could take them to Benfica starlet Antonio Silva either in January or this coming summer.

Earlier today, we reported how Liverpool have been sending scouts to watch Benfica ace Silva as they consider their next big move at centre-half.

The Reds are in the market for a new defender after Joel Matip’s injury. Silva, like his fellow countryman Goncalo Inacio, is one of the players admired by the Liverpool scouting team.

However, it seems any run towards landing Silva for the Reds won’t be easy. There is other interest in the defender, and journalist Rudy Galetti adds more context to that tonight.

Taking to X on social media, Galetti has confirmed that both PSG and Manchester United admire the young centre-half and that he’s ‘really appreciated’ by both clubs.

Silva is said to have an £88m release-clause in his current contract. Of course, that sort of figure in January would be hard to justify for Liverpool.

However, given the clamour for his signature, it might be a price the Reds or others are forced into.

Liverpool, Manchester United and PSG all like Antonio Silva

It’s pretty obvious that there’s a huge admiration for Antonio Silva from a number of clubs. Clearly, he’s done the business for Benfica and that’s led to these links.

However, the money seems massive for a player who is still so young and yet to really prove it anywhere else.

The obvious thing here is that Portuguese sides are now protecting themselves. And rightly so, given the players who have departed for England in recent times.

Silva will no doubt get his move somewhere. But whether or not that’s with Liverpool or United, remains to be seen.

PSG will always be a problem in the market and if they offer huge money, there’s usually only one winner.
