Championship club Huddersfield Town are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United youngster Matty Longstaff on loan – and some of their fans on Twitter are excited by the transfer speculation.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle are willing to let the 21-year-old depart this window on loan.

The report explains that there are a host of clubs in the second tier that want to take the midfielder on a temporary basis for the 2021/22 season. Huddersfield, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers all want him on loan.

Longstaff is an exciting talent to come from the Toon academy and he’s played 20 first-team games for them.

However, he appears to have fallen down the pecking order under Magpies boss Steve Bruce.

The central midfielder has never played away from Newcastle, but it looks like he may be heading out on his first loan.

Huddersfield fans keen on Matty Longstaff deal

A selection of Huddersfield supporters on social media believe Longstaff would bring a lot to their squad if they can secure a deal for him.

He scored the winner against Manchester United on his Premier League debut back in 2019 and there was a lot of excitement around him instantly at St James’ Park.

The Englishman is a box-to-box central midfielder with great stamina. But he’s still developing as a player, and perhaps a loan can help him improve technically with more regular senior minutes.
