Real Madrid think player Tottenham signed for £39m is now one of the best in the world

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has been going from strength to strength at N17.

The 24-year-old initially joined Spurs on loan from Sporting Lisbon in January before signing permanently for £39million in the summer.

Porro took some time to find his feet at Tottenham, but he’s now flying high in Ange Postecoglou’s swashbuckling outfit.

The Spain international has six assists from 15 Premier League outings this season, four of which have come in the last five Spurs matches.

Now, a report from Bernabeu Digital has claimed that Real Madrid are increasingly gutted at having lost out on Porro to Tottenham this year.

Apparently they were keen on signing the player for the ‘not very high amount’ that Spurs ended up paying for him.

However, the Real board decided they were happy with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, allowing Tottenham to move in and secure Porro instead.

That’s worked out well for Spurs, as he has now become ‘one of the best right-backs in the world’, according to BD.

They say his performances for Tottenham have been ‘spectacular’, which is especially impressive as he’s ‘not in one of the best clubs in Europe’.

And crucially, it doesn’t look like Los Blancos will be trying for Porro anytime soon. They reportedly feel a move for him now is ‘a thing of the past’.

Tottenham strike gold with Pedro Porro and other top talents

Tottenham have certainly struck gold on a number of occasions in recent years.

Aside from signing Porro, Spurs also did very well in signing the likes of Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr.

And while there will undoubtedly be some bumps in the road – as we’ve seen in recent weeks with the injury crisis – Ange Postecoglou is building something special at N17.
