Newcastle United’s prospective new owners have reportedly made Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale a priority in the upcoming summer market – and Real Madrid supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reports.
A takeover of the Tyneside club is reportedly set to be confirmed in the coming days, as Mike Ashley’s 13-year tenure looks to finally come to an end in a deal worth £300million. The Saudi-backed bid has seen Newcastle linked with player after player.
Now, Spanish newspaper Marca claim the new owners will prioritise a move for ex-Tottenham star Bale – who has managed just 18 appearances for Real this season. Despite that, he is believed to be happy at Real, who sit second in La Liga.
Bale is said to be earning an enormous £285,000 a week at the Santiago Bernabeu but the report claims Newcastle’s new owners are more than able in being able to afford such a wage. Real will consider offers in the region of £17.5million.
Tottenham did have first say over a move for Bale if an English club became interested, but that clause expired last summer. Newcastle are likely to be after a big-name signing and the Wales icon could be that man.
Upon hearing Newcastle wanted to sign Bale this summer, Real Madrid supporters discussed the former Tottenham and Southampton star’s future on Twitter – with many desperate to see the back of the winger.
Sell him for atleast 30-40…. His salary will be a huge relief for us…. And I think there r interested in James too…. Sell both in bundle for 70m.
