Sergio Reguilon provided the creative spark on Sunday afternoon as Tottenham squeezed past Brighton to climb into second place in the Premier League – and Real Madrid supporters have reacted on Twitter to the left-back’s display.
Reguilon was one of three summer signings that started against Brighton on Sunday evening, along with Matt Doherty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The 23-year-old laid on his third assist in seven Tottenham appearances to create Gareth Bale’s header.
Harry Kane had opened the scoring for Spurs after a foul from Adam Lallana was controversially given as a penalty. It saw Kane send Brighton debutant Roberto Sanchez the wrong way, to net his 11th goal of the season.

However, Brighton equalised through Tariq Lamptey. His excellent finish came after Hojbjerg looked as though he was fouled, referee Graham Scott chose to award the goal – even after looking to at the VAR monitors.
But Reguilon provided the difference. A stunning long-ball from Toby Alderweireld was collected by the defender, who cut inside onto his right and delivered the perfect cross for Bale to score his first Spurs goal – since returning to the club.
The Guardian claim Real Madrid have a buyback clause in Reguilon’s contract, believed to be worth a fee of £41million. Now, Real Madrid fans have responded on Twitter to Reguilion’s performance and third assist – questioning the decision to sell.
