Real Madrid could reportedly return to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon in next summer’s window with a buyback clause continually linking the Spaniard with his boyhood club – and Real Madrid supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Reguilon, 23, clocked up his 16th appearance for his new club on Sunday evening as Tottenham drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Playing as a left wing-back, the Spain international almost scored with a flashing header that flew past the post.

Spanish website ABC Deportes have given the latetst update on Reguilon. It is claimed that the left-back, who played 22 times for Real Madrid’s senior side before signing a £48,000-a-week (Spotrac) contract at Spurs, could rejoin Real soon.

Indeed, the report claims that if Real Madrid and Brazil icon Marcelo is to leave Zinedine Zidane’s side in the summer, then Real will activate a clause in Reguilon’s contract that will see the Spanish giants re-sign Reguilon for just £27million next June.

If Marcelo remains at Real until the end of his current contract, which expires in the summer of 2022, then Reguilon will remain at Spurs for the next 18 months – and then return to Real for a slightly more expensive fee, £31.5million.

Real Madrid supporters are desperate to see the return of 2020 Europa League finalist Reguilon after his impressive and improving form that saw him shine at Sevilla during a loan spell last season. Many have urged Zidane to bring him back.
