Micky van de Ven has some amazing news for Tottenham Hotspur fans – he’s fit, ready and wants to play against Manchester United this weekend.
Spurs went through a terrible run of results after losing Van de Ven to injury. They went five games without a win and really missed him. Now, the wait is finally over for Tottenham fans.

Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven says he’s fit to face Manchester United
Tottenham signed Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg in the summer for an initial fee of £34.5 million. That could go up by £8.5 million if certain add-ons are achieved (Sky Sports).
The Dutchman has only played 11 times in the Premier League, but Spurs fans have seen enough to know that they’ve signed a top centre-back.
Van de Ven has been a big miss for Tottenham. Yes, Ben Davies has done well, but the 22-year-old’s return will be a massive boost for Ange Postecoglou‘s side, who are conceding way too many chances without him.
When Tottenham faced Burnley in the FA Cup at the weekend, Van de Ven was on the bench, and there was no real need to bring him on.
Now, the Dutch international has confirmed that he is fully fit, out of pain and really hoping he will get some minutes against Manchester United this weekend.
Van de Ven told Tottenham’s official website: “I’m really happy to be back. It’s always a good feeling to be back with the squad and be on the bench. Next week a big game is coming so hopefully I’ll get some minutes over there.
“I’m feeling fit, I have no pain anymore, so I think I’m ready. It’s long, it was like 10 weeks I’ve been out, it’s frustrating when you have to watch from the sidelines.
“It’s a really good time for the players to come back, it’s an important second half of the season ahead so hopefully everybody will stay fit, and we’ll see what will happen.”

Van de Ven will make Tottenham more solid
Tottenham have had a fantastic season so far, but if there’s one issue, it’s that they are conceding chances to their opponents every week.
Spurs are outperforming their xGA from open play, corners, set-pieces and direct free-kicks this season. They’ve conceded 11 fewer goals than they actually should have (Understat), which is good if you’re talking about Guglielmo Vicario‘s brilliance, but really poor when you’re analysing their defence.
Van de Ven’s return now will definitely help reduce Tottenham’s xGA. He will make them considerably more solid at the back – even with the high line thanks to his extraordinary pace.
Tottenham take on Manchester United this Sunday, and Van de Ven is expected to start. If he has a good game, Spurs should be able to pick up all three points.
