Leicester City are among a host of clubs with an interest in young English striker Danny Loader this summer, according to Goal.
They report that megaclubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus are interested but Brendan Rodgers has a hugely exciting squad of young English players at his disposal and is looking at adding Loader.
This season has been something of a breakthrough for Loader at Reading, where the club’s struggles in the Championship have allowed him opportunities to shine.
And the Leicester Mercury quoted Rodgers last month as saying he is on the lookout for a younger striker to be a deputy and learn from mercurial frontman Jamie Vardy.
Vardy was on red-hot form under Rodgers in the latter part of the season but he is in his 30s now and will not be able to spearhead the Foxes attack forever.
Kelechi Iheanacho has huge talent but has not developed as expected at the King Power Stadium and Loader’s first campaign in senior football has shown he has the quality, maturity and eye for goal needed to usurp the Nigerian.
And if Loader can learn from Vardy, someone who came up through the ranks and didn’t have it easy, then the duo could give Leicester a fantastic array of front options next term.
