'Reaching Zidane levels': Some fans hail reported West Ham target's 'incredible' Euro 2020 display

West Ham reported target Aleksandr Golovin is shining at Euro 2020.

The Athletic recently listed the Russia international on its Radar of players likely to shine at the tournament.

Although Golovin apparently turned down moves to the Hammers and Sevilla, the outlet suggests both are still interested.

The 25-year-old reportedly has a gentleman’s agreement with Monaco whereby they won’t stand in his way if the right offer comes from a club that will give him a significant opportunity.

What On Earth Is Going On With The Copa America?

Golovin struggled with injuries last season but still proved an adaptable and productive squad player when called upon.

The £25m-valued midfielder made 26 appearances for his club in 2020-21, registering six goals and nine assists.

West Ham-linked player “showed his quality”

Now fit again, Golovin has played the full 90 minutes in both of Russia’s Euro 2020 games so far.

Although Belgium beat Russia 3-0 in their opener, the Sbornaya bounced back with a 1-0 win over Finland on Wednesday.

And Golovin was one of his nation’s standout players.

90Min gave him 8/10 and wrote: “Created a couple of nice early chances, and helped his team break up the field with pace.

“Fizzed a shot towards goal in the second half, which whistled past the post. Showed his quality.”

Plenty of neutrals thought the Hammers-linked ace was outstanding in Saint Petersburg.
