Ray Parlour says Tottenham star Harry Kane will be on the 'phone to his agent', amid Manchester City links
Ray Parlour has told TalkSPORT that he believes Tottenham man Harry Kane will be on the phone to his agent, asking if Manchester City have been in contact. The striker continues to be linked with the Premier League champions. Now, Parlour reckons he will be on the phone to his agent.
Kane, 27, is reportedly keen on leaving Tottenham this summer with Manchester City leading the charge to land the England skipper. It comes as little surprise, with Kane leading the goalscoring and assist charts in the Premier League – but Spurs only managing to finish in seventh place.
Asked about Kane’s future, Arsenal legend Parlour claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo might be able to convince Kane to stay for a season. But he reckons that while Kane is on international duty with England, the striker will constantly be on the phone to his agent. Parlour named Man City.
“If Levy has gone to Nuno and said, ‘I’m going to give you some money to spend, we’ve got to improve the back-four, we need to keep our best players and get the best out of Dele Alli’, then Harry might say let’s give it one more year, let’s have another go and try and win a trophy,” Parlour said.
“I think behind the scenes you’ve got to get on with playing for England, but he will be worried. There’s no doubt he’ll be on the phone to his agent. Asking what’s happening, ‘what’s going on, are Man City coming in for me, are they bidding?’” Parlour added, on TalkSPORT’s Breakfast show.
As time goes on, Tottenham chances of keeping Kane increase – amid Parlour claim
We are now well into the transfer market. Players have seen contracts expire, money is being spent, managers have been appointed. There is a feeling at Tottenham that attacking football has returned. Some have suggested that Nuno could be a mirror version of Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino joined Tottenham from Southampton having impressed at the mid-table Premier League club. Now, Nuno is similarly joining from Wolves. That could perk Kane’s ears up when it comes to his future. Certainly, as time goes on, the longer he remains at Spurs, the chances are he will stay.
