Of all the names reportedly in the running for the Manchester United job, one certainly stood out.

Time looks to be running out for Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford after the sluggish start to the new season, and United are drawing up a list of potential replacements.

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has turned heads after winning the FA Cup in May, while Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola could also move on for a new challenge this summer.

TBR Football revealed, however, that they are unlikely to move on mid-season.

Another rumoured candidate has also been making big waves in recent days.

Ray Parlour on Cesc Fabregas to Man United speculation

According to FourFourTwo, Cesc Fabregas is on Man United’s radar should they decide to sack Amorim.

The Arsenal legend has deservedly earned plaudits for his stellar work with Como in Italy and, perhaps more crucially, he has made it clear his dream is to manage in the Premier League.

Addressing the rumours on talkSPORT Breakfast on Friday morning, Parlour gave his own verdict, albeit after making a cheeky reference to the infamous Pizzagate row.

“He is doing a good job,” said Parlour. “He likes a pizza, though, Cesc down at Old Trafford. He’s the one who threw the pizza, wasn’t he?

“Well, it’d be a big call for Cesc, but you know, who knows? It could happen.”

Cesc Fabregas, of course, became an Arsenal all-time great after his spell at the Emirates between 2003-2011, while he also spent a further five years in the Premier League with Chelsea.

Cesc Fabregas wants to manage in the Premier League

In a boost to any top-flight clubs keeping a close eye on his success in Serie A, Fabregas told Sky Sports back in 2023 that he would jump at the chance to coach in the Premier League.

“The Premier League is the objective; it is the biggest dream a coach can have,” he admitted.

“But let’s keep improving. Have I got it in me? Time will tell. I believe so much in my methodology and every day you learn so much. Expectations are there but it is what you do and how you manage those expectations.”

Those comments could well prove to be the answer Sir Jim Ratcliffe is hoping for.
