Ray Parlour names which of Messi or Mbappe he would prefer Arsenal to sign

TalkSPORT pundit Ray Parlour has been asked which of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe he would rather Arsenal sign.

Paris Saint-Germain teammates Messi and Mbappe will go head-to-head in the World Cup final tomorrow afternoon when Argentina face France.

They both have five goals to their name at the tournament and whoever wins the game will likely win the Golden Ball in Qatar too.

As a bit of fun before the big game, Parlour was asked if he could pick one to go into the Arsenal team for the rest of the team, which would it be?

Parlour chooses: Messi or Mbappe

He said: “You’ve got to go with Messi – all day long. Mbappe’s a different option and he can play through the middle. I like Messi when he’s a little bit deeper and he can drift through the lines.

“He can pop up on the left, right hand side. Just the way he’s been playing. That third goal was so special. Not just the way he got to the byline but the way he looked up and knew where everybody is.

“He puts it back into an area and it’s a striker’s dream playing with him. That’s the beauty of Messi.

“He knows exactly when to go on his own, and when to play someone in. Messi always picks the right decision.”

Messi and Mbappe have been absolutely exceptional in the tournament so far and if they both keep that going tomorrow, the final could be a cracker.

The first goal will be so crucial, with both sides preferring to play on the break once they have it and defending doggedly.

Messi is still searching for his first crown on the world stage, while Mbappe and France are looking to retain the trophy, which would be some feat.
