Ray Parlour makes big FA Cup claim about Everton after win over Tottenham

Everton squeezed into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a remarkable 5-4 win over Tottenham Hotspur after extra-time on Wednesday night – and Ray Parlour has reacted on Twitter by making a big claim about Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Both sides came into the game with confidence – Spurs having beaten West Brom and with Harry Kane fit again, and Everton nabbing a draw at Old Trafford. It was Spurs that started quicker, scoring through Davinson Sanchez in the third minute.

But from that moment in, it was a topsy-turvy match that saw Spurs trying to stay with Everton. The Toffees scored three goals to go 3-1 up, through Richarlison, Dom Calvert-Lewin and Gylfi Sigurdsson. Erik Lamela made it 3-2 before half-time.

It was 4-4 at full-time – with Harry Kane netting and Sanchez getting another, after Richarlison netted Everton’s fourth. In extra-time, Bernard struck the only goal to win the match – and Parlour thinks Everton can win the entire competition.

TBR’s view – Can Everton really win the FA Cup?

There are still some big sides in the FA Cup. Both Manchester clubs remain in the competition and you would have to say that Pep Guardiola’s side are the favourites, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are also very strong contenders.

Chelsea can book their place in the last eight on Thursday night, when they take on Barnsley. Everton have a chance and getting into the semi-finals with a nice draw will boost their confidence. Certainly, though, City are favourites.
