Ray Parlour was left tearing into Tottenham after they were eliminated from the Europa League last night.
Spurs exited the competition on Thursday in embarassing style.
They suffered a 3-0 away defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League last-16 stage, as they gave up their two-goal aggregate lead from the first leg.
Mislav Orsic netted a stunning hat-trick to put the underdogs through to the quarter-finals, with the hosts fully deserving the result with such a high energetic display.
But the north London club will be left kicking themselves.
They wasted so many opportunities in the first leg to win by a bigger margin than 2-0, something which ultimately came back to bite them.
Pundit and ex-Arsenal midfielder Parlour was shocked that Spurs didn’t try play on the front foot to get an away goal which would have killed the tie.
“Why didn’t they go for the away goal? I really don’t get it. Spurs are a lot better going forward than they are defending. The defence aren’t good enough to defend like that. They invited pressure on,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

TBR’s View:
If you had asked Spurs fans before the second leg with Dinamo if they thought they’d qualify for the quarter-finals, it’s hard to imagine anyone predicting they’d be eliminated.
The longer the game stayed at 0-0 on the night it made Spurs go into a defensive shell, but two quick-fire goals from Dinamo sent the game to extra time and eventually they had the momentum to win.
It’s clear that this current side aren’t strong defensively, which is why many feel they should play to their strengths by playing offensively.
