According to The Express and Star, Aston Villa are considering a fresh bid for Neil Etheridge after Cardiff City turned down an initial £8m offer.
Aston Villa are reportedly hoping to sign a goalkeeper this summer. Jed Steer has impressed since taking the gloves but Dean Smith wants to provide competition in this department.
Lovre Kalinic was brought in last January but his form has been disappointing while Orjan Nyland has failed to impress as well.
Etheridge, who worked with Smith at Walsall, is seen as a top target. He caught the eye in the Premier League last season, making the second-most saves in the top-flight.

But Cardiff face a battle to hold onto the 29-year-old after his impressive performances last season.
Aston Villa could bring the Philippines international back to the West Midlands. But they might be forced to pay north of £10m for him.
Aston Villa face competition?
According to this report, West Ham and Fulham have also been linked. But the Hammers have signed Roberto and David Martin, while Fulham have been relegated.
Here are some tweets from Villa fans discussing these Etheridge rumours.
