West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi is the latest Aston Villa centre-back target. According to BBC Sport, Aston Villa have been keeping their tabs on Hegazi.

The Egypt international was recently in action in the Africa Cup of Nations, representing his country on home soil. But the Egyptians were knocked out by South Africa in a shock result in Cairo.

Aston Villa right-back Ahmed Elmohamady was playing. But the Aston Villa representatives were apparently watching Kasimpasa winger Trezeguet and West Brom defender Hegazi.

The Villans need a new centre-back, despite Tyrone Mings’ arrival, to compete with Kortney Hause and James Chester. Hegazi could be that man if Aston Villa can lure him across the West Midlands.

Hegazi was a regular for West Brom last season, helping them to a top-six finish. But his last action of the season was a missed penalty against Aston Villa, who ended up winning promotion.
