Manchester City fans have welcomed reports claiming the club has inserted a buyback clause in Lukas Nmecha’s transfer to Wolfsburg.

On Friday, the Citizens confirmed that the 22-year-old striker had left the Etihad Stadium on a permanent deal.

Nmecha came through the ranks at City and made his first-team debut in December 2017.

Pep Guardiola brought him as a substitute in a League Cup meeting with Leicester.

Nmecha then made two Premier League appearances later that season, but hasn’t added to his senior tally since then.

He took in four loan spells – at Preston, Middlesbrough, Wolfsburg and Anderlecht.

Nmecha shone under Vincent Kompany at the Belgian giants, scoring 21 goals from 41 appearances.

His talent and progress convinced Wolfsburg to come back in for him and sign him permanently.

The Manchester Evening News reported that City have sold Nmecha for £11m and also inserted two clauses in the deal.

As well as the upfront fee, City have ensured that they will get 15 percent of any sale that Wolfsburg make on Nmecha as well as a buyback option, claimed the report.

And City fans were pleased with director Txiki Begiristain for his role in negotiating a transfer that remains beneficial for their club.
