Raphinha has joined a host of Leeds United players and sent a message to Marcelo Bielsa following the announcement that he has left Elland Road on Sunday.

Leeds announced the news that many fans feared for the past 24 hours in the wake of their defeat to Tottenham on Saturday. They confirmed that Bielsa had left after almost four years in charge.

Unsurprisingly, many Leeds players were quick to take to social media to react to the news. And Raphinha has now joined his teammates in commenting on the news.

The Brazilian has not had the easiest last few weeks. He was taken off at half-time against Everton, and was then not named in the starting lineup against Manchester United.

That may have led some to wonder about the relationship between the two. But Raphinha sent a classy message, thanking Bielsa for everything he has done since the winger arrived at Leeds…

Raphinha has huge role to play if Leeds are going to keep themselves up under successor to Bielsa

No player has done more to keep Leeds’ head above water this season than Raphinha. The 25-year-old is, by far, their top goalscorer in the Premier League. And he has often been their most outstanding performer.

Even on Saturday, he managed to hit the upright with a brilliant free-kick. And no player played more key passes in the game – which is certainly saying something in a 4-0 defeat.

His form has certainly dipped of late. But he is clearly a talent who should be nowhere near the relegation battle in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen who will succeed Bielsa at Leeds. But there is absolutely no question that getting the best out of Raphinha again could be absolutely vital in ensuring that the Whites remain in the top-flight.
