Chris McKee is emerging as one of the brightest new talents currently being nurtured in the Rangers academy by the likes of Kevin Thomson and has now posted on Instagram after putting pen to paper on a new Gers contract.
McKee, 18, has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for the Rangers B-team. His physical frame has seen the Northern Irish striker lead the line with aplomb, under the guidance of Thomson and Brian Gilmour.
Signed from Northern Irish side Linfield, McKee’s performances have not only been catching the eye at Rangers. Indeed, McKee has been called up Northern Ireland’s Under-19 side and how has three caps to his name.
He scored a brace against the Faroe Islands back in May 2019, highlighting his excellent progress at Rangers. The Gers are clearly hopeful that McKee shine and break into the first team – handing him a new contract until 2022.
TBR’s view – McKee probably needs a loan
Steven Gerrard has seriously strengthened his options in the final third. Kemar Roofe is on fire, having netted seven goals in 12 games. Alfredo Morelos is operating deeper and it is working.
Cedric Itten has been brought in, while Jermain Defoe also remains an option – and is showing no signs of slowing down. McKee has it all to do but if he continues to shine, and perhaps impress during a loan, then he could get himself a chance.
