Rangers are reportedly prepared to make another bid to try sign Millwall defender Jake Cooper.
According to the Daily Express, the Gers are not giving up hope of signing the 23-year-old Englishman after bids as high as £3million failed in the summer.
It is understood the centre-back remains firmly on the radar of the Scottish giants and that chief scout Andy Scoulding has watched him in action this season.
The report adds that a switch to Ibrox would be more likely next summer, but Millwall could consider selling their powerhouse in January.
Cooper is a towering 6ft 4in defender that is the standout perfumer for Millwall this season.
He is a monster in the air that usually dominates from set-pieces, while this season he’s scored one goal and supplied six assists.
There would be the possibility of a destructive centre-back combination if Cooper was paired Connor Goldson in the heart of the Rangers defence in the future.
Goldson, 25, is the top centre-back option in Steven Gerrard’s squad and has been deployed alongside partners such as Joe Worrall, Gareth McAuley and Nikola Katic.
Rangers are still trying to find the best combination and Gerrard’s target Cooper could slot in alongside him to form a backline that would dominate physically.
