Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will be looking to bring in new players to Ibrox this season. The Glasgow side need new recruits if Rangers are to challenge for the title again next season.
In recent weeks, Rangers have been linked with bringing in a talented South African to Ibrox. France Football was reporting that Rangers want to bring Bongani Zungu to Ibrox this summer, following his current club’s relegation from Ligue 1.
That report claims that Rangers could potentially get a hold of the player for a fee in the region of €2 million (£1.8m).
Unfortunately for Steven Gerrard and Rangers, it now seems a move to Ibrox will prove far more costly.
A new report from Le 11 Amienois states that Zungu’s current club Amiens will want a fee in the region of €5 million (£4.5m) at the highest end of the scale.
That would be a fee that Rangers would undoubtedly struggle to afford this summer. There is no doubt that Zungu, who has been compared to Yaya Toure and Paul Pogba by the media in his homeland, would be a massive deal for the club.
However, at that price, which Amiens are reportedly not prepared to go much lower than, Rangers and Gerrard will struggle to bring their man to Ibrox.
