Rangers’ reserves side are closing on their respective league title after defeating Hamilton 4-1 yesterday. It was a confident and commanding performance from Graeme Murty’s side, with one man, in particular, standing out.
Glenn Middleton has been playing with the second string in recent weeks and did so again yesterday. He tore Hamilton apart down the left-hand side and eventually got a goal for his troubles in another brilliant performance. Following on from his double in the Reserves Old Firm derby recently, it is clear he still has what it takes.

Playing under Murty, who was integral in bringing him to Glasgow from former club Norwich City, he has thrived after falling out of favour in the first-team picture.
But his performances certainly demonstrate he has a future under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
For now, it is for the best that he continues to play with the reserves where he can operate without pressure and express himself under Murty’s guidance.
But with a good pre-season under his belt, it will be no surprise to see him force his way back into the Rangers first-team from next season.
