Clearly, Morelos had been itching to get amongst the goals after starting his suspension against St. Johnstone following his red card against Aberdeen.

The striker was well in the mood as he struck goals with both feet and his head.

It was a stark reminder of the quality he brings to the Rangers’ team, despite his occasional lapses in judgement.

A marked man?

Morelos has been scoring goals all season, but his latest exploits will surely draw plenty of attention.

Scoring four in one game is no easy feat, and a number of clubs will surely have noted how clinical he was.

Manager Steven Gerrard has continually stated what a big player Morelos is for Rangers and that it would take a special bid for them to consider selling.

In his Thursday press conference, he said: “It would be very expensive to buy a player of Alfredo’s quality, that is why we laughed at a couple of rumoured bids for him.

“The fans love him here, we do, and we want him to stay here for a long time and to help make us successful.”

Morelos was the subject of interest from French club Nice in January (The Daily Record), and his latest showing is only likely to see other clubs come calling.

Four more goals takes him to 25 for the season, with three months still to go until the end.
