Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos continues to be linked with a move this summer and Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United have been heavily linked with the Colombian – and Hugo Rodallega reckons it would be a perfect transfer for all involved.
Morelos, 23, has been on fire this season, scoring 29 goals and creating 10 assists in 46 league and cup appearances. Steven Gerrard stated in January that he would not sell Morelos, even for £50million – as per the Record.
That is despite Morelos failing to score a league goal in 2020. The striker’s form has dipped, coinciding with Rangers going toe to toe with Celtic – to slipping 13 points behind. The former HJK Helsinki striker has a contract until 2024.
Rodallega, Morelos’ fellow countryman, worked with Bruce at Wigan Athletic and he believes the Toon manager and Newcastle would be the perfect move for the Rangers striker – with the Chronicle previously claiming Newcastle want the striker.

“Alfredo is a young man. He must take advantage of his situation,” Rodallega told the Scottish Sun. “He is in a great position in his career because he scored many goals. Many clubs will want him. He has the confidence and ability to play in England.
“He must be clear and tell his current club that he wants to go there. If he gets the chance to work with Steve Bruce – someone I know very well – I know he would enjoy that because Bruce is a coach who gives his strikers a lot of confidence.
“That would be perfect for Alfredo.”
TBR’s view – Newcastle need to sign Morelos, takeover or not
It remains to be seen how much Newcastle can sign Morelos for, with a takeover likely to see clubs request more from the Tyneside club given their new financial resources. But with Joelinton struggling, Morelos needs to be signed.
Bruce is more than adept at coping with a hothead, such as Morelos. A no-nonsense manager, the experienced gaffer would keep Morelos in check – the only thing in doubt is if Morelos can score regularly in the Premier League.
But his stunning form for Rangers this season – albeit before the turn of the year – is proof enough that he can shine for Newcastle. Takeover or not, Morelos must be signed.
