‘Not a bad outcome’: Rangers fans react as potential Europa League opponents are announced

Rangers have discovered who they will face should they progress into the Third Qualifying Round of the Europa League.

Steven Gerrard’s charges will face FC Midtjylland of Denmark, should they defeat Progres from Luxembourg.

The challenge looks a difficult one on paper. The Danish side finished second behind FC Copenhagen last season and have two wins from two in 2019/20.

They put up a decent fight of progression from a group that included Villarreal, Rapid Vienna and Spartak Moscow.

Rangers will relish the chance to go one further this time around, but a tie with the Danish side is going to prove tricky to negotiate.

The Gers have recruited well this summer and it is very much an exciting time to be a Rangers supporter.

Gerrard sees Progres arrive at Ibrox on Thursday night and the supporters are hoping for revenge.

Back in 2017 under the stewardship of Pedro Caixinha, the minnows defeated Rangers 2-1 on aggregate, knocking them out of Europe in early August.

This time around Rangers should avoid embarrassment and progress to face Midtjylland.

Following news of today’s draw, the club’s supporters took to Twitter in reaction.

Here is a selection of tweets from those of a Rangers persuasion:
