Rangers have been boosted with Steven Gerrard claiming in his pre-match press conference that Borna Barisic could play against Braga in the Europa League tomorrow night (Daily Record).
The key player has been absent for the last two games after picking up an injury to his hip in a recent game against Hamilton.
Braga have not lost for 10 matches in all competitions and have beaten Benfica, Porto and Sporting Lisbon this season.
Rangers have stuttered somewhat since the winter break and Gerrard will know that his team need to be completely focused for tomorrow’s first leg.
It would appear that Gerrard will be boosted by the return of the 27-year-old for the big game against the Portuguese outfit.
He told the Daily Record: “Squad is looking good, Borna played the majority of yesterday’s session so is available for selection.”
Rangers qualified for the last 32 of the Europa League, coming through a group including Porto, Feyenoord and Young Boys.
Some of the Light Blues’ better performances this season have come in the competition and Gerrard will be hoping his team can reignite their campaign.
Rangers are 10 points behind rivals Celtic and although they hold a game in hand, the chances of them winning the Scottish Premiership appear slim once again.
Barisic signed for the Gers in 2018 for £2.2 million from NK Osijek. Since arriving at Ibrox he has become a fan favourite playing 55 times for the club.
He has 12 caps for Croatia and although Andy Halliday has done a steady job as a deputy for Barisic, having the international back will add an injection of quality to the back four.
