Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the Daily Record that Sheyi Ojo has ‘everything in the locker’, following his display in yesterday’s Europa League victory.
The on-loan Liverpool ace was on target during his first competitive outing for the Gers, with Gerrard’s men running out 4-0 victors.
Ojo, 22, will spend the 2019/20 campaign at Ibrox following failed loan stints at Fulham and Reims in France.
Despite his great start, Gerrard has fired a warning to the winger that he must continue to work hard at his game.
He told the Daily Record: “He has all the attributes and if this doesn’t work it will be because of Sheyi.
“I thought he was outstanding throughout, from start to finish, an incredible performance. He has everything in the locker – he is quick, strong and powerful and from a manager’s point of view, you know he is going to take on tactical information.”
“He knows he needs to make this work and is delighted to be here. Now he has got to build on that start.”
Ojo’s goal against St Joseph’s of Gibraltar was the perfect start for the on-loan winger.
Gerrard is quite right when he says that the Rangers stint is massive for his career.
The Liverpool winger has endured two frustrating loan spells at Fulham and Reims and it is vital he proves his worth at Ibrox.
With his blistering pace and dazzling skill, Ojo has the ability to take the SPL by storm.
Mentally he will need to regain his confidence following previous failures but his first strike for his new club will go a long way towards lifting his spirits.
