Former Rangers forward Ronald de Boer has backed his former team-mate Giovanni van Bronckhorst to eventually succeed Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
The Dutchman made the claims in an interview with the Scottish Sun. The Feyenoord head coach, van Bronckhorst, has announced that he will depart the club in the summer after four years at the helm.
The former left-back had three successful years at Rangers back in 1998, leaving for Arsenal for £8 million in 2001 (Scottish Sun).
Gerrard has enjoyed a decent first season in management and de Boer isn’t tipping him to replaced any time soon.

He told the Scottish Sun: “Steven Gerrard is the manager of Rangers and has done well.
“At some stage, however, he is going to have the ambition to take another step elsewhere. I think Gio would be a great fit in Scotland with Rangers.”
The former Rangers man will leave Feyenoord this summer following a third-place finish in Eredivisie.
TBR Verdict
It seems somewhat odd that Ronald de Boer has made these claims when Rangers have a manager. Not only that, but Gerrard is doing quite well.
He might not have claimed any silverware during his first season in charge, but two wins over Celtic have lifted optimism at Ibrox.

With a few quality additions in the summer, there is hope that he can close the gap further to the Hoops, and even perhaps challenge for the title.
Former left-back van Bronckhorst might well be the manager one day, but right now Gerrard appears to be relishing the challenges ahead.
