Lee Wallace’s wife has confirmed that the left-back will be leaving Rangers at the end of his contract after eight years with the Teddy Bears – and Jamie Barjonas has reacted on Twitter.
The 31-year-old first signed for Rangers back in the summer of 2011, which happened to be the club’s last season in the top flight before being forced to restart in the fourth tier of Scottish football.
Rangers agreed a £1.5million (Telegraph) deal to sign the fresh-faced 23-year-old from Hearts. He became a Rangers legend as he captained the side’s rise throughout the Scottish football league, until they returned to the top.
To date, he has played 262 times for Rangers – scoring 25 goals and laying on 58 assists. His wife, Steph, announced on Twitter that he would be leaving the club, and thanked Rangers and the fans for their support.
Jamie Barjonas responded to the news that Wallace would be leaving the club, describing his former captain as a “true gent” on Twitter.

TBR’s view
Wallace was not given the respect and class he deserved in the final two years of his eight-year stay at Ibrox. Simple as that, but moving on, it is the right time for the defender to leave.
If Wallace can shake off his injury woes, he is certainly one of the best left-sided defenders in the Scottish Premiership. Any club, below Celtic or Rangers, would surely take him on.
It is about getting game time for Wallace, and reminding Scottish football fans what he is capable of.
