Rangers are reportedly interested in re-signing midfielder Steven Davis from Southampton in January, but they should turn their attention to his teammate Sam Gallagher.
According to the back page of the Daily Express (16 October), Gers manager Steven Gerrard is lining up a winter swoop for the 33-year-old to bring him back to Ibrox.
But there is already a host of competition in the centre of the park and the Light Blues should perhaps consider searching for a new centre-forward.
Premier League club Southampton could provide the answer in that department and one their forward may be a great fit.
Gallagher is an attacker on the fringes of the first team at Southampton this campaign, but Scottish giants Rangers should offer him an escape route in January.
The 23-year-old is someone that has proven himself out on loan in the Championship in recent years at Birmingham and Blackburn Rovers, but can’t seem to catch a break at St Mary’s due to some stiff competition in attack.
But he could be a great addition to Gerrard’s squad and help increase the striker competition alongside Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty.
Gallagher looks good enough to play first-team football on a regular basis and the English forward could be a real success story in Scotland if given the chance.
