Rangers are reportedly eyeing a bargain swoop for Millwall defender Mahlon Romeo, as per The Daily Express.
This report claims that Romeo will be out of contract at the end of the season, allowing Rangers to poach him on a free transfer for next term.
But it has since been pointed out that Romeo signed a new long-term deal with the Lions last summer, as announced on the club’s official website.
Nonetheless, Rangers might be tempted to make a bid for the 23-year-old, who is unlikely to be too expensive.
And if they move for Romeo, Rangers should attempt a double deal by reigniting their summer 2018 interest in Jake Cooper.

The 24-year-old was a top target for Steven Gerrard last summer with Rangers making three bids, according to The Scottish Sun.
But Cooper stayed in South London and has been a key part of Millwall’s starting line-up this term.
The former Reading centre-back is tall, powerful and a real threat from set-pieces, making him a strong candidate to replace on-loan star Joe Worrall.
If Millwall are relegated (they currently sit one point clear of the drop zone), Cooper could be tempted by a move to Ibrox.
This could set up a potentially exciting double deal as Romeo and Cooper are both capable of stepping up and performing in the Scottish Premiership.
Both players are young but have lots of experience and could give Gerrard some strong options in defence.
